  1. Where is our trust? In politicians, in our 401k, in our bank accounts, in our friends, in our doctors, in our own ability to figure it out, in our military, or is it solely in the Lord?

God isn't against the list above but He wants them in their proper place in our heart.

1 Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help,
who rely on horses, who trust in the multitude of their chariots and in the great strength of their horsemen, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the LORD.

How do we know if we are placing things in our heart above God? What would our reaction be in our 401K crashed? Would we bless God? What would our reaction be if we lost our job? Would we bless God?

We are living in troublesome times. The foundations of society are being shaken but our foundation is sure! We will not be removed as we place our trust in our God.

6 He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the LORD is the key to this treasure.

  2. This verse is to good to pass up commenting on

Isa 32:8 But a generous man devises generous things, And by generosity he shall stand.

The natural mind says hold-on tight to what you have: money, blessings, reputation, time and what God has given you. Yet the Word of God says just the opposite. The generous man looks for ways to give what he has away and by doing for ways to give what he has to others and by doing so he is strengthen by the Spirit of God. Today make a point to reach out to those around you. See who you can bless today - Make a phone call, offer a helping hand, speak an encouraging word, pray for someone or give of your time.

As we generously give of ourselves we will receive strength to stand. Isn't it amazing? This is just the opposite of our natural way of thinking. God says we are blessed ie full of joy, in God's will, filled with His peace and strength when we seeks others good above our own interests. You want the joy that comes from God then you must reach out to others.

    Acts 20:35
"I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

    Phil 2:4
Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others.
