Matthew 20-21

http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%2020-21&version=ESV

Matthew 20:29-34: "And as they went out of Jericho, a great crowd followed him. And behold, there were two blind men sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was passing by, they cried out, "Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!" The crowd rebuked them, telling them to be silent, but they cried out all the more, "Lord, have mercy on us, Son of David!" And stopping, Jesus called them and said, "What do you want me to do for you?" They said to him, "Lord, let our eyes be opened." And Jesus in pity touched their eyes, and immediately they recovered their sight and followed him."

In the verses above, the blind men immediately recovered their sight and followed Jesus.

In Evangelical Christianity today some people claim that Jesus is Savior and that He becomes Lord at a later point in your life. Friends, Jesus is your Savior and your Lord when you place your faith in Him.

He opens our eyes so that we can behold who He really is. Once he does this in our lives, we must submit to His authority and obey Him. Don't fall into the lie that being a disciple of Christ is a higher form of Christianity. All believers are disciples and all disciples are believers.

1 John 5:20: "And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life."

Soli Deo Gloria.

  1. Yeah Jesus is Lord if I believe in Him or not. My problem is I call Him Lord yet I don't do the things He is telling me to do.

  2. Thanks for the honesty in your comment about not doing what the Lord is telling you to do.
Repentance requires a change in behavior, but it is NOT easy. However, I believe that if I claim the mind of Christ, die to self, and act as a witness for HIM, that my stumbling and falling can become much less frequent. I know this to be a fact in my own life.
**Also, Jesus searched for servants. I mention this because we live in a world where so many Christians want to be leaders, or are "allegedly" leaders.
So many teachers, but not enough laborers and not enough love among these teachers.
**However, Jesus chose servants to be HIS disciples and to ultimately start the church. In Antioch, the first place where Paul and Barnabas and the others were referred to as Christians, it was result of much service and very hard, dangerous work.
**I hope this helps anyone who reads my posting(it will help me as well just to write this and meditate upon the ideology)---->MATHEW 23:8-11---->"But do not be called Rabbi; for ONE is your teacher, and you are all brothers. And do not call anyone on earth your father; for ONE is your FATHER, HE who is in heaven. And do not be called leaders; for ONE is your leader, that is, CHRIST. But the greatest among you shall be your servant."
**Sometimes the only way to stop doing the wrong thing is simply to start doing the right thing.
**Ever since I became more active in my Christian life, and became unsatisfied with my own salvation an began trying to assist others and to increase the number of saved individuals(in whatever capacity I can), I have been filled with great joy and have been much more sinless.
I only wish I could be totally pure--->Not going to happen--->Thank you Jesus for rendering my sins null and void.
    ***Peace and love!!!

  3. I forgot to mention another quick thing--->Relating to Mathew 23:8-11---->As for being a witness for Christ, if Jesus Himself said the greatest among us will be servants, then may all of us step it up and get to it.
**As Dr. Young has said so many times, a great theme for the book of James could be: WAKE UP!!!
I am talking to myself, of course, because I certainly need to wake up...
**Doing the right thing keeps us on track and greatly reduces the outward sin in our lives.
    **"Faith without works is dead."
    Have a good one!!!

  4. Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven? We read here in Matt 20:20 how James and John brought their mother to Jesus to convince Him to give them the seats of honor in Heaven. The disciples had been arguing for months who among them would be the greatest. (Matt 18)

They desired personal greatness. Something I'm sure we don't have trouble with :)

When the other disciples got wind of their request, they got mad! Why? They wanted these positions for themselves. Even in the upper room, the night our Lord would be handed over to sinful men, they argued among themselves who was going to be the greatest among them. Luke 22:24

If the disciples had this problem, don't you think we shall to? Strife among brothers. Tear each other down so we will look better. What about some vain glory in the church? Puffed up in pride, showing how well we are doing with God, while thinking in our heart, I’m sure glad I’m not like sister or brother so and so. And if we see someone else enjoying some vain glory for themselves, well, we get jealous for we want that for ourselves.

Yeah we could use some humility in the church. Some lowliness of mind where we seek others interests above our own. How do we get it? It’s by opening our heart on daily basics to the one who is the greatest in the Kingdom of God, Jesus Christ for He humbled himself and became the servant of all.
