Jan 4, Day 1: Genesis 1-3

My dear friends, I am so thrilled to be taking on this challenge with you. I am praying that as you read, God will open your eyes to his glory, his grace, and his love. That you will see the true character of God and that your relationship with your creator will take on a new and amazing life. Take a few minutes to pray before reading and after reading each passage. These first three chapters are so jam packed full of insight!

Here are a few things to think about as you read:
  • How big our God is who created the heavens and the earth and everything in it
  • The relationship between man and woman
  • Satan’s relationship with man and woman
  • The tactics Satan uses to hinder our relationship with God
  • Our relationship with God
  • The impact of sin – how it separates us from God
  • From the beginning, our God who loves us gave us a glimpse into his plan of redemption (3:15)

Feel free to leave a comment about what spoke to you as you read.

  1. I know that I may not be able to meet this challenge on my own, but I remember what Paul said, " I can do all things through Christ who Strengthens me" so I am joining you all on this challenge. I pray that we will not be distracted, but to keep focus with our reading through the bible this year and we will be blessed.

  2. Here is something to consider from Gen. 1. How God’s original creation symbolizes what happens to us when we become His new creation

2 Cor 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

Day 1 – Let there be light

    Matt 4:16
The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned."

Day 2 – A separation of the waters

    2 Cor 6:17
Therefore "Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you."

Day 3 - Herbs that yield seed and trees that yield fruit

    John 15:16
"You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.

Day 4 Sun and stars are created to give light upon the earth
    Matt 5:16
"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Day 5 Fish and birds are created
Just a birds seem to defy gravity and fish defy the depths of the oceans so shall we overcome this world

    I Jn 5:4
For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world-- our faith.

Day 6 Cattle and other creatures are created. The beasts of burden.

    Eph 2:10
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

    Day 7 God rested

    Heb 4:9
There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.
